Hi,

I have been making jewerly and I currently have a few items listed on etsy.com, but I am wondering if anyone knows of any other ways to get my name out there and have the possibility of making more money and selling more items.

If you care to take a look at my jewerly please go to www.jfroiland.etsy.com

I make earrings, bracelets and am going to start making necklaces soon. Thanks!!!!!

I’m wanting to sell crafts (or probably specifically jewelry) online. I work from home and want to try this on my free time to see if it makes any money.

One question I have is – how can I do this legally? I mean specifically in regard to not violating manufacturer copyrights… If I buy beads, wire, and the like I know I can assemble those pieces and call it my own work and sell it. But what about things like earrings, chains for necklaces, charms, etc. that I buy from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby and "tweak" to be new items? Are these things legitimate to sell? Is it specifically safe to buy and use items from manufacturers that acknowledge it will be used for such purpose, or is it legitimate with ANY piece, as long as I make it my own?

If I can just buy existing jewelry and change the stones or some design, add things to it, and call it my own and sell it, how far does that go? For example, could I buy something from Claire’s in the mall and alter it and sell it??

I don’t want to go that far, I just want to know the legality of it. If someone could post a resource that’d be great, because I couldn’t find anything!

I run my own website and sell jewelry as well as shoes, sunglasses, and handbags. I’m having a LOT of trouble taking good pics of my jewelry – gold bracelets, earrings, necklaces. I’ve tried making a makeshift lightbox but it falls apart after a while. The lighting in my house is not perfect and alltogether, the pictures do not come out right. I know I’ll probably have to do a lot of photoshop tweeking, but ARRGGGH!!! I’m only a novice at Photoshop and have a lot of learning to do! This whole jewelry photography is driving me crazy! I rather do it myself than take it to a professional studio because I am saving a lot of money. I run the site by myself and work out of my home so I have to make do with what I’ve got. Has anyone else had these same problems? Are you having the same experience? If so, how did you get around it? How are you coping? Photographing pieces for my site is probably the hardest part of operating my small business.
