Okay, so August 10th I picked up a virus that closed out every window I attempted to open. This means microsoft word, notepad, games, anitvirus software, my computer… nothing stayed open for more than a fraction of a second. Along with this was a popup that kept appearing saying I should buy anti-virus software from "Antivir Soft." Any website online I tried to go to, that purchase page showed up. I believe strongly "Antivir Soft" is either another part of the same virus that infected my computer, OR it’s a secondary virus. Either way, I couldn’t get rid of it easily so I just diconnected the internet and shut down the computer.

I’ve been working off my laptop since then. It’s been shut off for at least 3 days straight without internet connection. Today I attempted to boot it up to restore it to a date before I got the virus… if possible. However, my computer now shows ABSOLUTELY no signs of any virus at all. Anything I open stays open and that "Antivir Soft" is nowhere to be seen. I even played a game and it played perfectly fine.

I’m hesitant to connect the internet or my USB drive to it until I’m SURE the virus is gone.

So, anyone have any information or ideas? I have a feeling this virus was made as a way to make money by people buying this "Antivir Soft." Would the virus just… destroy itself after a span of time? Do viruses just… disapear? Or could it simply be hiding so I’ll connect to the internet and it can email all my friends and infect them. (The reason I’m not connecting to the internet is because i don’t want to risk it emailing them the virus.)

So, again, any ideas on why it’s suddenly gone? I don’t believe i have antivirus software on the computer or if it is… it’s outdated and pathetic.
